Kim Kardashian started another trend, but this time it wasn’t intentional.
Earlier this week, the reality TV star was blasted for posting photos from her 40th birthday party in which she flew her friends and family to a private island amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,” she tweeted on Tuesday alongside photos from the lavish event.
The tweet quickly inspired hundreds of memes poking fun at Kardashian’s tone-deaf post.
Zach Braff quoted Kardashian’s tweet with a photo of Ja Rule and Billy McFarland, the organizers of the Fyre Festival scam.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper posted Kardashian’s quote along with a gif of characters from “The Brady Bunch” awkwardly dancing in hula skirts.
Netflix re-posted the same message with a screenshot of Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo in the 2010 thriller “Shutter Island.”
“The Hunger Games” official account posted the meme with a photo of the movie’s cast.
And Ronan Farrow posted Kardashian’s words attached to Hieronymus Bosch’s painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights.”
Page Six also chimed in on the meme mania, posting the quote with a snapshot of Kyle Richards yelling at Eileen Davidson during their Amsterdam trip on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”
Over the weekend, Kardashian and her friends and family — including Kris Jenner, Kendall Kenner, Khloé Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kanye West, Tristan Thompson, La La Anthony and Scott Disick — flew to an undisclosed private island to celebrate the KKW Beauty founder’s birthday.
Despite the backlash, Kardashian continued to post videos from her birthday excursion to her Instagram Story, writing, “Best Trip Ever.” She also shared a photo from the trip with Kourtney and Khloé with the caption, “Girls just wanna have sun” on Wednesday.
