A Giants player has tested positive for COVID-19.
The team was notified of the positive test late Wednesday night. The player was immediately self-isolated and the contact tracing process was started. All of the close contacts of the player were identified and were informed to remain home on Thursday.
The Giants’ Quest Diagnostics Training Center will remain open and the rest of the team will follow the normal meeting and practice schedule. The Giants will be on the field Thursday afternoon for practice in advance of Monday night’s game against the Buccaneers.
The Giants in a statement said they are working closely with the NFL’s Chief Medical Officer regarding the next protocol steps.
According to NFL Network, the team has quarantined all but four of their offensive linemen for contact tracing after one tested positive. The report added that the Giants placed starting guard Will Hernandez on their COVID-19/reserve list.
