President-elect Joe Biden and incoming first lady Jill Biden will finish the year with a guest appearance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021.”
The couple will give their last interview of 2020 to Seacrest where they will discuss “hope, unity and best wishes for the year ahead,” according to an ABC press release Wednesday.
It’s unclear if the Bidens will appear in person or virtually.
The annual television event, now in its 49th year, will be filmed from Times Square in New York but will be closed to the public amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Jennifer Lopez will headline the event from Times Square, performing shortly before the Times Square Ball Drop to an empty intersection normally filled with hundreds of thousands of revelers.
In a statement, ABC Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions said they were “honored” that the Bidens would join them to “share an inspiring message as we come together to close out 2020 and look ahead with hope to 2021.”
Meanwhile, President Trump plans to host a lavish New Year’s Eve gala celebration at his Mar-A-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The commander-in-chief and first lady Melania Trump spent Christmas at their winter White House and have reportedly invited hundreds of guests to join them at a black tie gala to ring in the new year.
